Mr. Boyd, a resident of San Diego for more than fifty-seven years and a retired Maintenance Supervisor of Convair/General Dynamics, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015. Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Anderson-Ragsdale Mortuary from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be Friday, July 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Pilgrim Progressive Baptist Church, 4995 "A" Street, San Diego, CA. Interment will follow at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, CA.

MILTON BOYD was born on December 17, 1928 in Helena, Arkansas to Edward and Virginia Boyd. He was the third child of seven siblings, which included his twin brother, Felton. He received his formal education through the Helena Unified School District. Milton, who was raised in a God fearing home, accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at a young age.

In 1948, Milton met and married Earline Hodges. This union was blessed with three sons. Milton was employed for many years with the McKnight Tire Company in West Helena.

Milton later met and married Rosie Lee Hood in 1956. In 1958, the two relocated to San Diego, California. Their union was blessed with four children.

During early 1959, Milton began working at General Dynamics Convair Division. He made many lasting friendships during his tenure at General Dynamics, where he rose to the position of Maintenance Supervisor. He retired on August 1, 1992 after thirty-three years of exemplary service.

During the early years, Milton united with the Pilgrim Progressive Baptist Church under the spiritual guidance of the late Rev. Dr. Marvin C. Hines and continued under Dr. Joseph Foxworth until his passing. Milton dearly loved his church family. He especially loved his pastor and the Pilgrim Adult Choir. He would often and proudly say that Pilgrim has the best choir in San Diego! Above all, he really and truly loved the Lord.

Milton loved and adored his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a great story teller and he loved to reminisce with family and friends about the good old days. He was known for his excellence in cooking. He made the best "out of this world" bar-b-que, banana pudding and pecan pie! Milton will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents; three brothers, Herbert, Lanfrey and Felton Boyd.

On Tuesday, July 7, 2015, Milton Boyd was called from earthly labor to eternal rest. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, Rosie Lee Boyd; nine children, Nacoties Boyd (Debra), Melton Boyd, Jr., Felton Boyd (Elizabeth), Claud Hood (Marie), Charles Hood (Melody), Marva Boyd, Barbara Williams, Rodney Boyd (Gwendolyn) and Janet Long (Don); one sister, Ruth Ella Graham; two brothers, Jessie Boyd and Eddie Boyd; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, other relatives, church family and friends who will mourn his passing yet celebrate his life.
