Curtis Andre Austin
October 6, 1967 ~ December 24, 2017 (age 50) 50 Years OldCURTIS ANDRE AUSTIN, affectionately known to many as “Black Drey”, was born on October 6, 1967 in San Diego, CA to loving and proud parents, Chester and Virginia Austin. He accepted Christ at an early and was baptized at Israelite Church of God In Christ. He received his formal education through the San Diego Unified School District, graduating from Morse High School with the “Class of 1986”.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Andre began working for McClellan Buick Incorporate during his teen years. Like his father, he made many long, lasting friendships and was highly respected and favored by his peers, owners, management and supervisors. He touched so many lives throughout his ten years of service with McClellan Buick with his delightful smile, kind heart, winning personality and strong work ethics.
In 1999, Andre met the love of his life, Wanda Bruner. They were united in marriage on Valentine‘s Day in 2004. It was widely known how he adored his wife and she too, adored him. He believed that a “Happy Wife” makes a “Happy Home”. He embraced and honored being a stepfather to Wanda’s three children, whom he loved as his very own.
Andre was a hardworking, determined and energetic bread winner, who would not allow anything to get in his way of being the best provider to his family. He would show up for work even when he was ill. His hardworking principles earned him a position at BAE Shipyard as a rigger.
In 2016, Andre and his wife relocated to Las Vegas, NV, where he began employment as a truck driver with Service Partners Trucking Company. They had their dream home built from the Ground up in Las Vegas. He and Wanda found a church home that they enjoyed, Mountaintop Faith Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor Clinton House. Andre truly loved the Lord and he knew that the Lord loved him too.
Andre enjoyed all sports, particularly football. The San Diego Chargers was his favorite team. He also enjoyed his weekend of fishing in Arizona with Wanda. Andre’s heart was full of love for his family, his friends and of course, his homeboys. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
On Sunday, December 24, 2017, Curtis Andre Austin was summoned home to glory to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jeffrey Dixon.
