Remembering Steven
Steven Wayne Titus, known to most as Steve, was born October 1st, 1956 to Bettye and Joe Titus Sr. in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Lincoln High School and furthered his education at California State University Fullerton, and San Diego City College.
Steve worked in many areas throughout his life using his
communication skills. He worked as a phone salesman, an usher at the San Diego Airport, Job Corps and Business College to help students further their education, and a Calvery Christain High School of Chula Vista Defensive Football Coach. For the later portion of his life, Steve worked in physical labor with pride. For the most part, he helped the elderly and the disabled with their lawns and removed furniture that they no longer needed. Instead of taking these items to the junkyard, he refurbished them. He then either gifted them to his family, someone in need or sold them. Steve was good at all things he set his mind to.
Steve loved sports, especially football. His favorite team was the Las Vegas Raiders (previously known as the Oakland Raiders). In 1971, he played college football and made many close friends along the way. He enjoyed spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren beyond measure. They filled him with life and love. Very rarely did he ask for help and freely rendered his services to those who asked.
Steve departed this life, hands clasped with loved ones on June 28th, 2023. He is preceded in death by his father Joe Titus Sr, his brother Joe Titus Jr., and his daughter Charlicia Titus.
He leaves to cherish his memories: to his mother Bettye Titus, sister Beverly Titus, brother Malvin (Kimberly) Titus, brother Marvin Titus, sister Sherryl (Donald) Carter, sister Charlotte (Joe) Keys, son Isiah (Brooke) Titus, daughter Alicia Titus, son Elijah (Alyssa) Titus, son Andre Titus, his grandchildren Thomas Trujillo lll, Amelia Titus, Lux Titus, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings
'Cause you are the wind beneath my wings..
