SHIRLEY LEE NORWOOD~SCOTT Obituary

On April 13, 1957, in the vibrant city of San Diego, CA, Shirley Lee Norwood-Scott graced this world with her presence, the cherished child of Cornelious and Flora Norwood. Born into a family of six siblings, Shirley brought warmth and love wherever she went.

At a tender age, Shirley found solace and strength in her faith, accepting Christ's embrace with the New Bethel Baptist Church under the guiding light of Rev. L.R. Sanford. Her voice, a gift from the heavens, resonated in the halls of the church as she led the choir with grace, never failing to captivate hearts with her melodies. Later in life, Shirley continued her spiritual journey at Calvary Baptist Church, following her daughter's footsteps under the stewardship of the late Dr. Emmanuel Whipple, enriching her soul with every hymn sung and prayer uttered.

On June 24, 1974, Shirley embraced the joy of motherhood, welcoming her beloved son, Demond Cornelious Limbrick, into the world. It was a moment of pure love and boundless joy that would forever shape her life.

Soon fate would step in and Shirley would meet her soulmate, AlFred "Bub" Scott. Their love story commenced in August 1974, blossoming into a profound connection that led to a blissful union in August 1987. United in love, they joyously welcomed their daughter, Al-Flora "AlShiie" Scott, into their arms on February 17, 1989, thus fulfilling their family circle.

Shirley's educational journey led her through the halls of Valencia Park, O'Farrell Junior High, and Lincoln High School, where she left an lasting impression with her infectious laughter and unwavering kindness. Her professional endeavors spanned various fields, from the San Diego Unified School District to Hewlett Packard, Henry's (Sprouts), and Anderson-Ragsdale Mortuary, where her dedication and work ethic shone brightly until her health intervened.

Weekends were reserved for cherished moments with family and friends, whether venturing to the swap meet or trying her luck at the casino. Shirley found joy in the simplest pleasures, from browsing the aisles of the 99 Cent Store to embarking on adventures with her family, traveling to Tyler, Texas, and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

A beacon of light in times of darkness, Shirley's door was always open, her heart overflowing with generosity. Her culinary skills were legendary, with her pound cake and pineapple upside-down cake leaving a lasting impression on all fortunate enough to taste her creations.

Shirley was more than a mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, friend, or auntie; she was a social butterfly, flitting from one conversation to another, spreading joy and laughter wherever she went. Her trademark cha-cha and infectious laughter will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

On March 28, 2024, Shirley Lee Norwood-Scott embarked on her final journey, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

She is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved parents, Cornelious and Flora, her dear son Demond, and her siblings Joy Faye, Howard, William, Flora Dean, and Denise, along with her niece Charmayne.

Shirley's spirit lives on in the hearts of her cherished daughter Al-Flora Scott and Fiancé Joseph Faulk, grandson Kaleb Demond, nephew Isaiah Hamilton, beloved grandpups Nala and Face Faulk, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, family, and extended loved ones, each carrying a piece of her warmth and light.

Though she may have left this earthly realm, Shirley's legacy of love and laughter will endure for generations to come, a testament to a life well-lived and a soul deeply cherished. May her spirit soar on the wings of angels, forever dancing among the stars. Rest peacefully, dear Shirley, knowing you are loved beyond measure.

There's a leak in this old building, and my soul has got to move, This old building keeps on leaning and my soul has got to move. When I can read my title clear
I'll bid farewell to all of my friends & when you see me praising my Lord
I'm moving closer to my heavenly home, I've got another building
A building not made by man's hands...............
