Rosa P. Britton Sunrise 8-25-1927 Sunset 2-3-2023 Rosa was born to Cora and Silas Pitts, Sr. of Norfolk, VA along with Brothers; Silas Jr. & Richard, and Sisters; Emma, Cora May, Bettie & Violet. Rosa graduated from Booker T Washington High School and later worked at a laundry. She would volunteer at the USO and attend their dances. It was there that she met her future husband of 66 years, Johnny L. Britton, Sr. of Hot Springs, AR. while he served in the US Navy. Touring the world with the Navy, Rosa and Johnny welcomed Johnny L Britton, Jr. in San Diego and Marlin in Naples, Italy. They were blessed with Prima Rose in San Diego where they made their permanent home. Rosa kept in contact with friends she met while in Italy just as she did with her hometown friends and family. Rosa, a mother and homemaker, also assisted with the family business, Britton’s Gulf Service Station on Imperial. Rosa later provided Nanny services & became dear to the Herrington family. She volunteered with the Food Bank at Skyline Rec Center and gave gifts with her Calvary Baptist Church to the Angel Tree Prison Fellowship. Rosa gave to many charities, specifically related to children & cancer support. Johnny and Rosa traveled and would spend time with their siblings in later years, visit grandchildren, attend graduations, weddings and homegoings. They enjoyed the local casinos & Rosa also went on the Casino Bus trips enjoying time with the ladies. Preceding Rosa are her parents, brothers and sisters besides Bettie Crudup of MD, her husband Johnny L Britton, Sr. and son, Johnny L Britton, Jr. Left to carry on her legacy are son Marlin Britton (Valerie) and daughter Prima Britton Pettus (Benjamin), daughter-in-law Carole Shaw-Britton, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. PRIVATE INURNMENT WAS HELD AT MIRAMAR NATIONAL CEMETERY.
