ROBERT LEE BURTON JR. Obituary

Robert Lee Burton Jr. was born to Robert Burton Sr. and Leslie R. Perry on April 5, 1981 in San Diego, California. Robert was born premature and faced challenges early in life, yet he did not allow these challenges to slow him down. He attended Fulton Elementary and graduated from Morse High School in 1999. Robert’s Grandparents played a major role in his early upbringing. His Grandmother, Oneatha B. Perry, would take him to prayer and his Grandfather, Roscoe A. Perry, would take him with him on visits to see Pastor Jessie. On one visit they went to Men’s Fashion Depot. Robert asked his Grandfather (whom he always assumed had unlimited funds) to buy him a suit to which the answer was "No" He then turned and asked Pastor Jessie and his reply was "Go pick out what you want", Robert came home with a new wardrobe. He had no problem acting on the scripture found in Matthew 7:7, “Ask and it shall be given”. Robert gave his life to the Lord at a young age and continued to walk with Jesus throughout his adult life. He received his spiritual training at Greater Israelite COGIC under the leadership of none other than the late Pastor Harvey W. Jessie. Robert loved playing the drums and when there wasn’t a spot for him to play at his local church, he took his skills and played for whoever may have needed him, never allowing others to stop him. On any day of the week, you could find Robert at a church playing. Robert was a member of the Mount Olive COGIC, under the leadership of Pastor Jim Reynolds and Lady Delores Reynolds until his demise. He loved his church family and they loved him. Robert was called to the ministry in 2015 and wore his clergy collar whenever appropriate. Robert would always encourage you to press on and not to worry, he would use his favorite phrase “God got you”. On November 14, 2022 Robert went home to be with the Lord. He leaves to celebrate his life, Father, Robert Burton Sr. (Bertha), Mother, Leslie R.
