Mr. Reginald "Reggie" Wade Caples was born September 8,
1964. He was the only son born to Charlie Caples and Tessie
Bonner. Reggie grew up in San Diego, California and graduated
from Bonita Vista High School in 1982. He continued his
education by attending culinary arts school, several community
colleges and trade schools. Reggie loved learning and encouraged
others to learn and pursue their educational goals.
As a child, Reggie accepted Christ and attended Calvary Baptist
Church. As an adult, he joined Bethel AME Church, San Diego
and continued to work for the Lord. He joined the usher board,
participated in the lay organization, cooked for the homeless, and
assisted with sound engineering. Reggie not only played the
drums for Bethel's Choir, he also developed an organization
called Da Drummer Boys/Girls who won first place in the MLK
parade during the early 1990s. His love for music led him in
several directions, including playing for churches and bands
throughout the San Diego community.
Reggie was blessed with many hobbies and talents. For example,
he loved to cook, build, garden, write music, play drums, swim
and dive. In fact, he worked on an Alaskan fishing boat (Trident)
as a processor and carpenter. Further, Reggie managed real
estate, he was a clinical nurse aide, and owned a catering
business, entitled “Sweet Sensation”. He loved life, and yet he
was passionate about preparing for natural disasters.
Reggie fulfilled a lifetime dream of owning a home in Mississippi.
He loved visitors; he was excited about showing them his new
home and discussing his latest construction projects.
After a brief illness, he peacefully departed this life on November
2, 2024, to spend eternity with "The Most High."
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Caples;
stepfather, Johnnie Bonner; maternal grandparents, Walter and
Joanna Small; and paternal grandparents, Willie and Etherine
Caples
Reggie will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Tessie
Bonner; his sisters, Sherrie Price (Paul-Jahi), Delphine Jackson,
Stephanie Collins, Dana Moore (Jock), Shawna Yandall (Mika),
and Shani Harvey (Anthony); as well as many other beloved
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends
"Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers, and he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men, and they straightway left their nets, and followed him....."
Matthew 4;18-20
