PROPHET ROBERT BOOKER, II Obituary

Robert W. Booker, Jr. was born December 13, 1972, to Virginia Ruth and Robert Wade Booker, Sr. in San Diego, CA.  He was a miracle child whom medical doctors predicted would either be stillborn or, if born alive, “a vegetable.”  Not only was this prediction invalidated by divine intervention, but for the next 48 and one-half years, Robert grew to become a multitalented young man with tremendous achievements.

In June of 1991, he graduated from Montgomery High School.  Thereafter, he received an Associates of Arts Degree in General Studies from Southwestern College; a Bachelor of Arts Degree from LaSalle University; and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Religious Studies from Next Dimension Bible College in 2011.  Robert served as Chief Executive Officer of  Youth of Excellence, Inc. of San Diego, CA, which he founded for the purpose of promoting basic education skills for youth, individual empowerment, and community outreach. He was an accomplished musician, playing both the piano and organ.  Additionally, Robert was a gifted and anointed messenger of the gospel.  He was sought by churches and organizations throughout the nation to deliver the good news of Jesus Christ and to compel men, women, and youth to Christ through his charismatic and inspiring exegesis of the Word of God.

Robert was third generation COGIC, his grandfather (the late Oceana Buford Booker, Sr.) and father (Supt. Robert Wade Booker, Sr.) having been gospel preachers before him.  He served as Assistant Pastor at Praise Centre COGIC under the leadership of his father until his retirement as Pastor.  In January of 2021, he was appointed Assistant Pastor to Supt. Milon Mills, Jr., at Missionary COGIC.   His appointment was a joyous and much anticipated return to the church founded by his grandfather and grandmother and in which he was nurtured from birth and where he was fondly referred to as “Dobbs”.  He was committed to his work as National Evangelist, International Department of Evangelism Region 5 President. In this role, he travelled untiringly throughout the nation teaching and preaching and inspiring individuals to commit their lives to Christ.

Robert possessed  a warm, gentle spirit, evidenced by his love for people, his sense of humor, and his generous nature.  He was cherished by family and friends who lovingly referred to him as:  “Dobbs” (a name given him by his sister, Robyn as a small child); “Woodie” (fondly called by his brother Greg); “Dossie” (a name given by his neighborhood friends); “Bunny” (fondly referred to by his maternal grandmother and mother); and “Beetle Bug” (a name given him by his dad).  Among his many hobbies were fishing; reading; traveling; cooking; all-around handyman; and fashion aficionado.  Most of all, Robert Love God with his whole heart.

On Tuesday, July 6, 2021, the Lord saw fit to call Robert Booker, Jr. from labor to reward.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Ruth Booker; two brothers, Brandon Darnell Marshall-Booker and Zedric Anthony Marshall-Booker;  maternal grandmother, Ruth Ray Whitmill; paternal grandfather, Oceana Buford Booker, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Frances Booker; aunties, Kathleen Womack, Hattie Bonslater, Frances Denby, Lorraine Womack and LaFern Brewer; and cousins, Raymond (Ricky) Womack and Renee Byrd.  He leaves to mourn his passing:  Robert Wade Booker, Sr. (Sandra); three brothers, Gregory Lane Marshall-Booker, Kelvin Wynn Marshall-Booker, Terrence Melvin Marshall-Booker; sisters, Robyn Lorette Booker, Dee Taylor Bonnick, and Candace Taylor; three paternal aunts, Evelyn Booker, Rachel Hatchett and Vivian Westmoreland; and a host of nieces, cousins, other relatives, friends, and the Missionary Church Family.
