Pearline Belcher

PEARLINE DAVIS BELCHER was born August 26, 1926 in Davidson, Oklahoma. She was the third of four children born to loving parents, Andrew and Carrie Davis. The Davis Family later moved to San Diego, California, where she attended and graduated from La Jolla High School.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Pearline began working for Convair/ General Dynamic, alter with the City of San Diego. She later joined the United Service Organization, where she retired after numerous years of service of excellence.

 In 1946, Pearline married the love of her life, James A. Belcher. Their union was blessed with seven beautiful girls: Classie, Gwendolyn, Karen, Charlotte, Kenya, Veronica and Joyce.

In 1949, Pearline and her family joined St. John Baptist Church, La Jolla, California. She made sure that her children attended church every Sunday. She loved Bible Study, But most of all, She enjoyed serving on God’s program.

Pearline also served her community through her voluntary work with the Boys and Girls Club of America.

Pearline enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking, baking, gardening and attending family gatherings. She especially enjoyed knitting and crocheting blankets for her grand-children. She loved to spend quality time with her family and going on fun trips such as Big Bear. She loved her family unconditionally and they dearly loved her.  

In December of 2017, her health began to deteriorate. Even through her sickness, she was still the amazing, loving mother, grand-mother and mentor to many of those who looked up to her. She lived her life to the fullest; enjoying every moment.

On Wednesday, June 27, 2018, Pearline slipped away peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her daughter, Gwendolyn; her granddaughter, Lakiesha and her grandson, Jared.

She leaves to cherish her memory, six loving and devoted daughters, Classie, Karen, Charlotte, Kenya, Veronica and Joyce; fifteen grandchildren; Tony, Debbie, Jeneane, Clem, Curtis, Thomas, Reshall, Marquis, DeJon, Cheri, Allen Mark, Kurt, Wendy, LaDondra and Reshawn; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
