MELVIN LEWIS PRADD

Melvin Lewis Pradd’s earthly journey began on June 18,1951 at University Hospital in our beautiful city of San Diego,
California. He was the fifth of twelve children born to the late John Clifton Pradd and Mable Lulean Pradd.
As a San Diego native Melvin attended John J. Montgomery Elementary, Castle Park Junior High, and graduated from Castle
Park High School.
After graduating from High School Melvin worked in the nursing field. Passionate about helping others with disabilities he
worked at various Convalescent Homes throughout San Diego County.
He also worked for SDSU (San Diego State University) as a Custodian, Green’s Detail Shop, Del Mar Racetrack, North Island
and spent a decade with Harrah’s Casino. His latest employment was with “Hands that Help” until his health began to
decline.
In the year of 1975, Melvin accepted Christ, was Baptized and became a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, under
the Spiritual guidance of the Late Rev. L.R. Sanford. Yes, He also ministered in praise as a member of the NBBC Choir.
Melvin married Peggy Haynes in 1977 and to this union two sons were born. Melvin Pradd Jr. & Marvin Pradd.
Who was Melvin Pradd? He was a man who overcame many obstacles with energetic and magnetic experience. Never a
dull moment with Melvin. He was known for speaking his mind. But, he would always end with something to say that
would put a smile on your face and laughter in your heart. He was Caring, Encouraging, Trustworthy & Truthful!
Melvin met his new Love Mary Mounger and enjoyed many years with her and his bonus children until Mary’s passing in
2019.
On April 29, 2024 Melvin answered the call from Heaven, and it is there we can see him again. He fought a tremendous
battle with cancer. He finished his race, he kept the faith. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
