MARTY MAURICE JACKSON

Marty Maurice Jackson was born on August 17, 1951 in Knoxville Tennessee to loving parents Gladys Kirkland and Robert Jackson. He attended Green Elementary, then in 1963 his family moved to San Diego, where he attended Memorial Jr High, and San Diego High School. After graduation, he attended San Diego State University and was an apprentice in a carpet laying program. Marty was a jack of all trades. He was a driver for Pepsi Cola, a Skycap at the San Diego International Airport, and with his entrepreneurial spirit he owned and operated his own business, Marty’s Window Cleaning Service. Marty was the coolest dude around, ask anyone. He played and excelled in all sports from baseball, to basketball, football, and track, but his love for tennis ran deep; he was still competitively playing at 70. He was also a singer and a lover of music. He enjoyed watching the Padres, the news, but mostly the history channel and could talk about anything from ancient Egypt to alien abductions. The beach was his favorite place but those that know him, know he loved the casino too. However, his love for his friends and his daughter surpassed all that. On Saturday night, July 6, 2024, after a day of being surrounded by loved ones, our smooth fella Marty was called home to be with God. He leaves behind his daughter Misty Jackson, whom he created in love with his long time friend Tamara Moore-Hooker, and their son Dorian Moore (Charlene), his grandson Dorian Moore Jr, his sweetheart of 11 years Linda Jackson, his brother Freddie Kirkland (Sahara), niece Starr Kirkland, close cousins Sandra Burum (Marvin), Alicia Lattimore King, Linda Boatwright, JoAnn Hackler (Richard), best friends Paul Jackson, Dale Davis and a host of other friends and loved ones. Marty was cooler than the other side of the pillow and his love was a breath of fresh air. To say he will be missed is an understatement. This man will leave a void in the hearts of those who loved him but his sweet memory will be the blanket to soothe us all.
