LaTanya Doucette Obituary

LaTanya Sherris Doucette, affectionately known as Tanya, the daughter of James Doucette and Audrey
Haynes, was born on June 12, 1972, in San Diego, California. LaTanya was called to rest at the age of 50
years old in the presence of her youngest sister, Angela Doucette, at 12:45 p.m. on July 11, 2022.
LaTanya accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. C. Johnson of Mt. Zion
Missionary Baptist Church. She rededicated her life to Christ and was presented with a diploma upon
her completion of bible school in August 2021.
LaTanya’s primary education began at Brooklyn Elementary School in Golden Hill, California and
Muirlands Middle School in La Jolla, California. During these formative years, she made many lifelong
friends and fond memories. Some of her extracurricular activities as a student included her participation
in the school choir. Her public school education ended as a “Caver” at San Diego High School. LaTanya
would later pursue various vocational interests, such as cosmetology and dental assisting.
LaTanya was blessed with a child born on November 25, 1991. Her only son, Robert Dominique Redding,
reminds us that she was a nurturing mother, a short-order cook for the family and the best taco shell
fryer there was. She was especially proud of Robert’s educational accomplishments and work ethic.
LaTanya had a clever wit and certainly inherited her sense of humor from her father and grandma Betty.
Her son Robert recalls how she’d have the best nicknames for everyone. Each pet name she came up
with was as fun and unique as she was.
LaTanya was a free spirit who had a big heart for those who were in need. She knew no strangers and
befriended people from all walks of life. She would often give family-prepared holiday meals to friends
who otherwise would not have a home-cooked meal during the holiday season. She loved her mother’s
cooking and would not hesitate to share it with others.
LaTanya was soft spoken at times, but her big smile, laughter, and sense of humor brought joy to those
near her. She loved her mother dearly and was protective of her well-being. She was a supportive big
sister and often took on the role of caregiver for her loved ones. LaTanya was also a sensitive soul. She
found peace in the soothing sounds of water fountains and wind chimes. LaTanya was a beautiful person
and is loved by many. She was a daughter, mother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend. Her presence will be
so deeply missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life: Her mother Audrey Nita Haynes; father James
Arthur Doucette, son Robert Dominique Redding; two sisters, Lisa Ann Doucette and Angela Nicole
Doucette-Sattler (Eric Sattler); uncles Leanard Haynes (Rhonda) and Lonnie Haynes (Robin); step-father
Ray Baker; a host of cousins, aunts, niece, nephews and numerous friends.
