Remembering...Lorraine
Lorraine Ida Gholston, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, peacefully passed away at home on July 22nd, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on February 15, 1950, in San Diego, California, Lorraine was one of five children to the late Edna and Jackson Fain. A proud graduate of Lincoln high school, Lorraine pursued a career in healthcare and became a nurse assistant. She began her professional journey at Mercy Hospital working alongside the Sisters of Mercy for 12 years and later transitioned into an administrative role with Kaiser Permanente where she served faithfully until her retirement.
Lorraine was a woman of deep love, compassion and unwavering faith. She treasured her family and one of her greatest joys was meeting her husband Cody and raising their two children. What she loved to do most in her spare time was shopping, traveling, and spending time with loved ones.
She lived a life of service and kindness, always looking for ways to help those in need. In the act of being a Good Samaritan Lorraine once saved a man's life who was in distress by performing C.P.R. until the Emergency Medical Technicians arrived to take over. Her quick thinking and selflessness exemplify the strength of her spirit and her commitment to caring for others.
Lorraine's presence was a blessing to everyone who knew her. She was a natural leader, full of warmth and strength, whose impact will be felt for generations to come.
She is survived by her loving husband Cody Gholston, daughter Miranda Gholston-Catlin (John), son Cody Gholston Jr, granddaughter Sinclaire Catlin. She also leaves behind her sister's Yvonne and Michelle Fain, brother David Fain, sister-in-law Deborah Fain; and a host of family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, mother-in- law Lillian, brother Leon and several beloved family members. Lorraine has now taken her place in eternal rest reunited with her loved ones in heaven. While her absence leaves a void in our hearts, we find comfort knowing she has been received by her Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."
-John 14:3
"A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again"
