LILLIE WASHINGTON

August 2, 1935 ~ February 17, 2025 (age 89) 89 Years Old

LILLIE WASHINGTON Obituary

 

 

Lillie was the sixth child born to Manuel and Gettis Hamilton in Rieasel, Texas on August 2, 1935. Lillie
grew up in Crowley, Texas and attended school in Crowley and finished at James E. Gwinn in Fort Worth,
Texas. In December of 1952 she married Davis Talton Jr. to that union one son was born. Davis Talton 3rd.
On August 2, 1956 she married Emmitt Sanders. To this union no children were born. Lillie and son Davis
moved to San Diego in 1962 stayed 3 years went back to Texas for health reasons. Then in 1967 Lillie and
son moved back to San Diego, CA where she met Leo Washington. Who became her husband in later
years. Lillie married Leo Washington on April 1st 1989. At a very happy time in their lives Leo became
sick and proceeded her in death on May 19th 1990. Leo’s untimely death was a sad and lonely time for
Lillie. Lillie was employed at National Steel for ten years. When she left there she went to work for The
Department of Justice for Drug Enforcement. She also worked five years at Universal Mechanic
Engineering. Because she began to have eye problems with her eyes she retired in 1989. Lillie, lived a rich
full life. Lillie loved to help other and she did with a smile. She has been faithful member of Logan Temple
A.M.E Zion Church since1962 loving the buds of promo. Sitting in the same puge. Until God called her
home on February 17th 2025. Lillie raised her son and three grandchildren here. She loved giving to the
Church. She is happy all her worries and struggling are over now that she’s at home with the Lord. Her
motto was Don’t Weep for Me, Joy will cometh in the morning just think of the song ”So Were I Made It”.
She made her own order of service so she was ready. Lillie leaves to Mourn one grand daughter, Angela
Talton of San Diego CA, two grandsons Davis Talton 4th Of San Diego CA, Jabary Troy Talton of Dallas
Texas two great grand son Isaiah Talton of San Diego CA and D’Maria Talton of San Diego CA, 13 great
grand children of Dallas, Texas, 8 step children and great grand children.1 sister Kathryn Curtis of
Inglewood, CA. 3 Nieces and 11 nephews and a host of other relatives and Friends. Lillie Always said, “
No Matter What The Crime This Child Is Still Mine. She Loved Her Friends And Family And Was Very
Proud Of Them. Her Mother Father 2 Sister and 3 Brothers 2 Husbands, One Son And One Grandchild 3
Step Children Proceeded her in Death.

 

 

Great is thy faithfulness, O God, my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with thee.
Thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
As thou hast been, thou forever wilt be......
