Judge Alanders Evans was born on Thursday, October 8, 1936 in Crosbyton, Texas, to Shirley H. Evans and Lille Mae (Lee) Evans. He was the fourth child of twelve born to this union. In 1945 the family moved to Hobbs, New Mexico where Judge was baptized into the church of Christ by Bro. Charles Anderson at the Roxanna Street church of Christ. In 1955 Judge left high school, and Hobbs, after the tenth grade to join the United States Navy.
Judge married his childhood sweetheart, Glenda Ruth Hines, on July 12, 1959. To this union were born eight children. In 1975 Judge received an Honorable Discharge as a Hull Technician Chief from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service.
He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he was employed by the U.S. Navy Public Works Center on North Island as a Master Pipe Fitter. During this time he went back to school and received his High School Diploma from Center City Community College Adult Center in 1979.
He also attended City College and received his Associate of Arts degree in Selected Studies in 1982, followed by his Associate of Arts degree in Industrial Supervision in 1984.
Under the tutelage of John L. Lawson Sr., Judge began preaching on February 14, 1987. He became one of the Associate Minister's of the 31st and National and the 69th Street congregations of the Church of Christ.
Judge worked as a Master Pipe Fitter for 20 years before retiring again. He was a man who believed in working. Although he had retired twice, he took on another job at Southwestern Christian School as a Handyman. While there, and after he left Southwestern Christian School, he continued assisting others, along with Bro. 0. D. Starkes, by helping them with their plumbing needs. In his later years Judge enjoyed attending the Preacher's Forum and especially the Midland Lectureship.
On January 23, 2021 at 10:45 a.m. Judge was called by the Lord where he is now at rest until the return of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Judge was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Glenda Evans, his father and mother, Shirley Sr. & Lillie, five brothers, Shirley Jr., Meshack, J.D, Arthur, and Adrian and one sister, Esther Smith.
Judge leaves to cherish his legacy his eight children: Douglas Evans (Crystal), Carman Evans (Rose), Antonius Evans (Leida), and Alvin Evans (Tunisia), of San Diego, CA, Jeffery Evans (Carolyn), of Dallas, TX, and Valerie McCleary (Michael), David Evans (Anna) and Jacquelyn Evans of Fort Worth, TX. Five siblings: Florence Evans and Robert Evans of San Diego, CA, Eugene Evans of Sacramento, CA, and Gwendolyn Evans and Joyce Green of Albuquerque, NM. Two sisters by marriage, Lillie Conley and Olanthia Allen of Dallas, TX, Forty Grandchildren, Twenty-Seven Great Grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
