JENNIFER LYNNE COLEMAN~LOGAN Obituary

Jennifer Lynne Coleman, born in National City, CA, and a native of San Diego, was the third child born to Ellen and George Coleman. She had a brother, Jeffrey Steven (passed in infancy) and sister, Sharon Kay.

She and her sister grew up in a loving and nurturing family. Jennifer excelled in piano and Spanish. She graduated from Crawford High School, Mills College (BA), Boston University (BS and MS), and the University of Maryland at Baltimore Medical School (MD). She excelled in three careers: engineering, the military (Army officer), and medicine (family practice). She believed strongly that God called her to the practice of medicine, and gave all her patients personalized attention.

Jennifer married William Logan in 1986, and to that union was born the light of her life, son Warren. She was proud of him and his many accomplishments, as well as his recent marriage to husband, Jeff Clare.

In addition to academics, music, and career, Jennifer was dedicated to public service, particularly as a member and president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She was also of intense faith, serving in many leadership roles and teaching Sunday school for more than 30 years. She recently developed and presented many programs about African American history, with particular emphasis on African Americans in the military.

Jennifer was a fierce and loyal friend. She recently moved to Rio Rancho, NM, from San Diego to start a new chapter in her life. She sadly passed away after a brief illness. Jennifer was an amazing and loving light in the world, and will be sorely missed.

Jennifer leaves to mourn her son, Warren Logan (Jeff Clare), sister Sharon Coleman, nieces Logan Celine Holeman and Sydney Coleman Preston, great nephew Jamir Edrisi Preston, cousins Dr. Calvin Benton, Alan Nowden, Hilary Carlin, Christopher Reeves, Ray Reeves and Gina Reeves, God sister Frances Epps, God brother Sheldon Epps, and family members Drs. Connie and Maxwell Gilliam.

In lieu of flowers and trees, donations to the Elementary Institute of Science San Diego are encouraged: Elementary Institute of Science, 608 51st St, San Diego, CA 92114.
