HAZEL LOUISE DAVIS Obituary

Hazel Louise Hill was born December 1, 1933, to Della Ray and Mason Hill (deceased) in Caddo Gap, Arkansas. In her adolescent years she moved to Stockton, California. Hazel attended Edison High School and Delta Jr. College, receiving her Associate of Arts Degree. In 1966, Hazel and her husband Oscar Davis Jr. USN, (deceased), relocated to San Diego, California.

 

Hazel was employed at the Navy Exchange in a supervisory position in San Diego for well over 30 years. She was well known in the community for her charitable work with the Jackie Robinson YMCA. She was a member of the Jackie Robinson Y-Men’s Club, supporting community activities. She was also a member of the San Diego Epicurean Social Club of San Diego.

 

Hazel was a devoted San Diego Charger Fan. She was a lifelong member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church and served as a member of the Usher Board and past president. Hazel loved her church family. She had a passion for life and her life was well lived. Her spirit will live on in her adult children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her friends, and all of the lives that she touched along her life’s journey. She will forever be loved and missed by all.

 

Hazel leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved daughters: Glenda Louise Duke, Geraldine Davis-Johnson and Cynthia Ann Free; Grandchildren: Tanya Louise Duke, Shani Akisha Bolden, Shalamon Akili Duke, James Earl Shephard, Samuel J. Johnson, Jeffrey Hill, Victor Collins, a host of great grandchildren, close family members and friends.
