Gwendolyn Lavenia Patterson-Tillis was the second born to Charles Patterson Sr. and Norma Patterson (Scott) on August 29, 1952 in San Diego, CA. With an honorary mention to her step- father that raised her, Willie Lee Scott Sr. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, June 1, 2023 due to a myriad of health issues, that had plague her the last few years.
Known just as "Gwen", she attended Knox Elementary, Bell Jr. High and Lincoln High School class of '71. In between those formative years, she met the love of her life at a party, Lavell Pete Tillis. She then went on to obtain her Associates degree. She held several jobs over the years, but she was a long term caregiver for friends, family, and others.
Gwen was beautiful and had a captivating smile, she was the life of the party and protector of her family, who she loved deeply and sincerely. When she made friends, they were friends for life. Gwen adored her Mother and tried her best to be just like her. Her goal was to carry her parent's legacy at 5244 Cervantes Ave. She enjoyed music and dancing, but please keep her out of the kitchen! She did love to clean though! Gwen enjoyed watching endless documentaries about wild life which she found absolutely fascinating, some of her favorite networks were CNN, HGTV and lets not forget QVC. She was also known for surviving off of Lays potato chips, Coca Cola and her favorite...chocolate!
Gwen was survived by her children jermaine Tillis and Chanelle Tillis. Grandchildren: Alize Tillis (Hooper) and Tyler Tillis. Great Grandchildren: Twins, Lawrence and Damian Hooper and lastly, Kato Hooper. She also leaves behind siblings: Charles Patterson Jr., Terry Patterson, Rose Wilson, Darrell Scott, Alvin "Ricky" Tannihill, Willie "Billy" Scott. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Gwen was preceded in death by her baby sisters: Gloria Patterson, Bridget Scott and Carolyn
"Punch" Scott. As well as her Husband, Mother, Father and Stepfather.
