On September 8, 1930, in Quitman, Louisiana, God blessed
Roosevelt Jackson and Rosa Mae Calep with a precious son,
Frank Luxion Jackson, also known by his nickname, “Luck.”
Frank was a wonderful son who grew up to become a
hardworking, respectful, caring and kind young man. He
accepted God at an early age and served Him throughout his
life. Frank received his formal education in the Louisiana
School District, where he met the love of his life, Willie Ruth
Pruitt. On July 3, 1952, Frank and Willie were united in
matrimony. Their union soon welcomed a daughter, Coralet,
and a son, Gerald. In 1956, Frank and Willie relocated to San
Diego, California, seeking a better life for their children.
Soon after arriving in San Diego, Frank began working as a
construction laborer. He felt blessed to have found a good job
to help provide for his family, and soon joined the Laborers’
International Union of North America, Local 89, where he
made many friends. Frank worked in construction for nearly
40 years and remained a member of Local 89 until he retired.
After retirement, Frank enjoyed being able to spend more time
with his family and friends.
Throughout his life, Frank’s top priorities were taking care of
his family and worshipping God. After the move to San Diego,
Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church became his spiritual
home and it remained so for over 60 years. He was a Bible
scholar and an enthusiastic member of Mt. Zion’s choir.
Frank loved and admired every member of his church family.
Frank was an extremely kind, patient and trusting man, who
accepted everyone on their own terms. He met friends and
strangers alike with a firm handshake and an open heart.
Frank always greeted you with a big smile and a hearty laugh,
and the sparkle in his eyes let you know that he was genuinely
happy to see you. Frank was a man of unyielding integrity;
his word was his bond. He was a man of unshakable faith; a
dedicated and humble ambassador for the Lord. Frank was a
sincere and loyal man; he always led with his heart. He
appreciated the simple things in life; a loving family, a modest
home, honest work and good friends. We will forever miss his
beautiful smile, quiet strength and gentle spirit.
Frank leaves behind to cherish his memory: daughter, Coralet
Jackson of San Diego, CA; son, Gerald Jackson of San Diego,
CA; grandchildren, Ashanti Ward of Ruston, LA; De’Angelo
Jackson of San Diego, CA; Ariane Phillips of San Diego, CA;
his great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
REAL MEN SMILE IN TROUBLE, GATHER STRENGTH FROM DISTRESS
AND GROW BRAVE THROUGH REFLECTION.
