Everett Scott Moten has left an indelible imprint of love and light on this world. His smile and energy live on in the hearts of his family and friends, whom he cherished and supported every day of his life.
Born on January 13, 1963, to Frances (Brown) and Eli Moten, Everett passed into God’s Kingdom on February 18, 2025. He leaves his brothers, Ron (Rhonda) and Jeff (Tarra); nieces and nephews Noell Janay Cain (Chris), Ronald Eli Moten Jr., Aleah Monet Moten, Miles Guy Moten, and Pierce Charles Moten; and many treasured friends.
Upon his graduation from Patrick Henry High School in 1981, Everett joined the U.S. Navy. Years later, he went on to earn his business degree from San Diego State University and subsequently accepted a role with the federal government. He retired from that position in 2022.
Everett lived a selfless life of service to his family and others. He moved in to care for his parents when they became ill, spent a year in Virginia helping his brother Jeff with his young sons when their mother passed away, and supported his brother Ron through health challenges and extended hospital stays. He was the rock everyone knew they could rely on in times of need.
His friends will remember Everett for not only his heart of gold but also his passion for fashion and love of jazz and R&B. He embraced life joyfully, and generously shared his positive outlook with everyone he met. He will be greatly missed.
"Roll back the rug everybody, move all the tables and chairs
We're gonna have us a good time tonight
Every time that we meet, we skip and we dip to the beat, yeah
What in the world could be better than getting together again..."
~ Luther Vandross
