Carrie Mae King was born on Sunday, December 8, 1946, in Norfolk, Virginia. She was the third of four children born to Garney Clayton and Ida Mae
Hoggard. Carrie enjoyed a wonderful childhood and attended the local schools in Norfolk and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School.
As a young adult she met, was courted by and married Learey Lee King. They became the proud parents of four beautiful children: Olithia Renae, Karen Louise,
Learey Jr. and Lee Antonio. Even through motherhood duties, she worked at a local company where she fashioned artificial Christmas trees until June of 1976.
In expectation of greater opportunities for success, the King family made the decision to relocate to San Diego in 1976.
With the help of Carrie’s family, the Kings' quickly established themselves in sunny California and began their new lives.
Carrie worked part time as a receptionist at her brother’s real estate office before attending and receiving her certificate in welding at the Educational
Culture Complex. In her mid-thirties Carrie began to experience problems walking, which many years later would lead to a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. This
diagnosis led Carrie to a whole new way of living: Gradually her mobility changed from using a cane, to a walker, then finally to a wheelchair. Later she became a resident of Golden Hills Post Acute Care Facility. Carrie loved her family, music and enjoyed plenty of Seven-up!! She had a beautiful spirit!
On Easter Sunday morning The Lord spoke to Carrie and told her that it was time for her to come home and live with Him. No more pain and no more sorrow!
