CARRIE MAE ANDERSON Obituary

Carrie Mae Anderson was born on June 4, 1939, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to
Edward Parker and Mary Alice Cook. She was their cherished only child. Carrie
moved to Kodiak, Alaska, with her parents at a young age, where she received
her education. She accepted Christ early in life and was baptized at New Horizon
Baptist Church, later becoming a devoted member of New Jerusalem Community
Church.
Carrie dedicated over 30 years to working as an In-Home Caregiver and operated
an In-Home Daycare Center for 8 years. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her
family, as she cared for many children, outside of her own grandchildren, with
love and devotion. She was a committed mother to her only child, Edward G.
Paul Mitchell, born June 30, 1957, in Kodiak, Alaska.
In Kodiak, Carrie met George T. Anderson, and they married on January 11,
1964. They shared 37 wonderful years together until George’s passing on
December 31, 2000. After 23 years apart, they are now reunited in eternity.
Carrie passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024, at her home, surrounded by
her loving family. She was the Matriarch of her family and will be deeply missed.
She leaves behind to celebrate her life her son, Edward P. Mitchell (Bertha
Rodriguez) of Albemarle, NC; god-daughter Shannon Larkins of San Diego, CA;
grandchildren Tanisha Andrus (Kevin), Edward Mitchell, II (Rachael Camacho),
Joshua Dixon (Misty), Channa Mitchell (Marvin Tilley) and Ivan Harmon all of
San Diego, CA; Jamie Harmon of Jacksonville, FL; Breana Spence of San Diego,
CA and Toshmar Mitchell of Charlotte, NC. Great-grandchildren Ebiere
Cunningham, Doryan Miller, Taylor Braswell, Khaalid Thomas, Ryzhon
McCoy, Ravyn McCoy, Anastasia ‘Nuni’ Hall, Kaylani Sablan, Mykah Mitchell,
Melanie Hill, KJ Andrus, Kamden Bradburn, Jacqueline Stephens, Joshua
Dixon, Jr., Derrick Banks, Asialynn Mitchell, Miko Mitchell and soon-to-be Baby
Girl Dixon all of San Diego, CA. She also leaves to honor her legacy a host of
cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. Additionally, she had a special bond
with the mothers of her grandchildren: Helen Spence, Suzanne Calabia and Betty
Dunkle, both of whom preceded her in death.
Carrie completed her earthly journey with grace and has earned her wings. She
will be remembered for her unwavering faith, love, and care for others.

I love You, Lord
For Your mercy never fails me
All my days, I've been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God....
