Carolyn was born full of kindness and joy on October 18, 1941 in Little Rock, AR, and raised in El Centro, CA, where she was the eldest of her siblings, Victor Pippins (deceased), and Rosemary Alexander (deceased).
Carolyn graduated from Central High School in 1959 (Valedictorian- elect), and with an unstoppable vision she became the first in her family to attain a degree. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science at UC Riverside, and began a career in education in San Jose.
Carolyn, later moved to San Diego, where she joined Bethel AME and earned her Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychology at San Diego State University. Carolyn met and fell in love with Navy shipman, Edward Morris (deceased). Together, they built a lovely family and home for their two children, Steven and Christal, whom she adored.
Carolyn was known for being warm and intelligent. She cared deeply for the community and served as a member of Women Inc, the San Diego Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Incorporated, and President of Jack and Jill of America for many years. She received numerous awards and recognition for her achievements and outstanding leadership. A big hearted, Vice Principal, Instructional Team Leader, counselor, and teacher that greeted every student with a smile, Carolyn, retired from San Diego City Schools, after 32 years of service.
Carolyn was a great friend and opened her home to all. She loved traveling, organizing cruises, having fun with her games club, entertaining family, scrapbooking, fishing and volunteering with Rady Children’s and the California Retired Teachers Association.
Carolyn was an active and faithful member of Bethel AME for 60 years. She leaves to cherish her memory; a son, Steven (Zorana) Morris, a daughter, Christal Morris, a grandchild, Asha Morris, and a host of nieces, nephews, sorority sisters and friends. She will be truly missed by all.
Carolyn was gentle till the end and peacefully passed away on December 26, 2023 at the home of her daughter in Atlanta GA.
