Barbara Jean Taylor Obituary

BARBARA JEAN HARRIS TAYLOR was born on January 10, 1931, in Knoxville, Tennessee to loving parents, Ollie and Ruby Harris.  She attended New Hope Elementary School, Green School and was a 1948 graduate of Austin High School in Knoxville.

After high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Andrew James Bussey.  Born to this union were two children, Sandra Jean and Larry Elliott Bussey.  Barbara later attended Bertha’s School of Beauty in Knoxville and obtained her Cosmetology license worked as a beautician for several years.  Before moving to San Diego, California in 1970, she was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church where she served as an usher, under the pastorate of Reverend Dr. W. T. Crutcher.

She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1996, to be with her granddaughter, Alicia Antoinette Lattimore King and became the owner of Action Printing Company in Las Vegas and was a Female Minority Business Entrepreneur.

Barbara enjoyed traveling with her sister, Gladys Harris Kirkland.  They were always constant companions.  Now they can “Walk around Heaven” all day – “Together Again,” To God be the Glory!  They traveled all over Europe and the Middle East, Egypt and Jerusalem were their favorites.  Barbara’s favorite hobby was reading. She also enjoyed attending various educational type seminars in her spare time.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Ruby Harris; brothers, Carl and Floyd Harris; and sister, Gladys Harris Kirkland.

On Monday, April 9, 2018, our precious Barbara got her wings and was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted daughters, Sandra Jean Bussey Burum and Sharon Kimbrough; loving and devoted son, Larry Elliott Bussey; her loving and devoted son-in-law, Marvin B. Burum whom she loved like a son;  loving and devoted granddaughter and caregiver, Alicia Antoinette Lattimore King; nephew, Marty Jackson; nieces, Linda Boatwright and Jo Ann (Richard) Hackler; great-nieces, Rhonda Daies, Robin Wells, Christiane Anderson, and Misty Jackson; great-nephews, James Eugene Parks, Jr., Steven Waterson and Dorian Moore; devoted friends, Barbara Parks, Rosa Butts, Willard Ann Mostella, Ann Broadfield and the Jenkins family; special family, William and Henrietta Caldwell, Ernest and Jane Scruggs and Anna Porter Ward, and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
