ANDRE MITCHELL Obituary

Andre Joseph Mitchell, age 48, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Sharp Medical Center in San Diego, CA. He was born on December 13, 1972, to Bobby and Josephine Peters Mitchell.  He was a native of New Orleans, LA who graduated from Clifton L. Ganus High School (C/O 1991). While in High School, he was recruited to join the US Navy through the Delayed Entry Program (DEP). He served in the Navy from (1991-2011) in San Diego, CA. His specialties were 3601-Lithographic Equipment Repairman, NEC-001 Lithographer, MC Mass Communication Specialist, and MC1 (SW/AW) Production Manager of Naval Special Warfare in Media and Communications. Andre earned a plethora of medals, ribbons, and decorations. Just before retirement, Andre coached basketball from 2010-2017. He coached the youth group through the YMCA, junior varsity, and varsity within the Sweetwater Union High School District in San Diego, CA. After retirement Andre was eager to follow in the footsteps of his dad by working in the contracting business. He developed skills in Carpentry, Flooring, Installation of Electrical Devices, and various Handyman chores. In his leisure time he enjoyed flying remote planes and drones, group chatting, and visiting close circle of friends. Andre loved meeting and chatting with folks.

Andre is preceded in death by his infant son, Devan Lavell Mitchell; grandparents, Robert and Gustavia Ratcliff, Dorothy and Chris A. Mitchell Sr., and Thomas R. and Edith Peters; 3 uncles, Chris A. Mitchell, Jr, Thomas Peters, Jr, and Rodney R. Thomas; and aunt, Roslyn Peters Mitchell Thomas. He leaves to cherish his memories his 2 daughters, Zana Alandra Mitchell and Kiyara Briche’ Mitchell; granddaughter, Alaya Mitchell; parents, Josephine and Bobby Mitchell; life partner of 14 years, Juanita Wallace McCoy; acquired children, Victoria and Stefan Williams, Korrina and Caitlyn McCoy; and granddaughters, Kyra and Shyla Sabazz; brothers, Chris A. Mitchell (Ceedie) and Sean T. Mitchell; nieces, Markia Cole and Chrisean Mitchell; nephew, Chris A. Mitchell; aunts and uncles of the Mitchell family, Gloria Davis Mitchell, Joycelyn M. Jones, Ana M. Duplessis, Silvia M. Lindsay, Elwood Mitchell (Janet), Earl Mitchell (Shelia), Rev. Elize Mitchell (Darlene), and Charles Mitchell (Sandra); aunts and uncles of the Peters family, Edith Marie P. Gardner (Darryl), Janet Mitchell (Elwood), Pastor Troy Peters (Ellarie), and Travis A. Peters; military brothers, Harry Kinchin, Steven Alexander (Tasha), Steven Camron (Roxann), Derrick Mitchell, Mike Woods (Rhonda), Rodderick Kitchens, Derrick Branch (Shonda), Jimmy McKnuckle, and other San Diego family and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are all invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Monday, November 22, 2021, 10:00AM, at Professional Funeral Services, 1449 N. Claiborne Ave, NOLA. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the hour of service. Interment Southeastern Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA. Arrangements in San Diego were entrusted to Anderson-Ragsdale Mortuary.
