YVONNE DENA SPRAGGINS JONES Obituary

YVONNE DENA SPRAGGINS was born August 6, 1954 in Fresno, California. She was the fifth of six children born to loving parents, Robert L. and Doris J. Spraggins.  She received her early religious training with the Church of God in Christ in Fresno, where she also began her formal education. She attended Teague Elementary, Ivy Middle School, and Washington Union High School.

By the time Yvonne reached high school she was ready to live in the big city.  Yvonne and two of her siblings headed out to San Francisco, California where they resided with their cousin, Lois. There, Yvonne continued her education and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School.

Yvonne later met Emanuel Stephens. In 1973 they were blessed with a son whom they named Moeishane Darnell Stephens, her pride and joy.  In 1976, Yvonne and her young son relocated to San Diego, California to be closer to her older sister, Pearline Adams. Family was always most important to Yvonne.

After four years of being in San Diego, Yvonne met John Henry and in 1980 she was blessed with her first, daughter, Dena Shante, who was the joy to her mother and her big brother, Moeishane. In 1984, God had other plans for Dena Shante and called her home at the age of four years old. Losing Dena left Yvonne and Moeishane devastated and heartbroken.  A few years later, Yvonne met Willie Avery and in 1987 they were blessed with a baby girl whom they named Vondale Monique Jessica Avery.

Shortly after moving to San Diego, Yvonne began working at the San Diego Airport. She was very passionate about helping people. Her passion eventually led to a career path as a caregiver, and was employed in this field for sixteen years before her health began to fail.

Yvonne enjoyed living life to the fullest and having a goodtime. However, she was also serious minded and did not mince her words. She meant what she said, and said exactly what she meant. She loved her family unconditionally and they dearly loved her. Her sisters took pride in helping Yvonne raise her children. In 1998, she met and began dating Lenoris Jones and in 2002 they were united in marriage. Lenoris was the love of her life and he remained by her side throughout her illness.

Yvonne was preceded in death by both of her parents; two sisters, Pearline Adams and Julia Foster; two brothers, Nolen and Bobby Spraggins and her daughter, Dena Shante Spraggins.

On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, Yvonne was called home to Glory to be with the Lord. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Lenoris Jones, son, Moeishane Stephens; daughter, Vondale Avery; two brothers, Timothy and Clayton Spraggins; two sisters, Darlene Spraggins and Dianna Blackwell; two granddaughters; Shante Washington and Cianna Robbins; grandson, Moeishane Stephens Jr, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends
