KIRSTAN ANN “KIRSTIE” ELLIS, daughter of William and Octavia Ellis, was born on May 27, 1958 in San Diego, CA.
In 1979, Kirstie graduated from Mission Beach School followed by several years of vocational training and support from The ARC of San Diego. She enjoyed learning and giving back to her community. Kirstie was a contributing member of society working at Albertsons, Salvation Army and Goodwill Industries under the guidance of ARC. On June 2, 2006, ARC honored Kirstie as “Consumer of the Year” at the Sheraton Hotel on Shelton Island.
Kirstie enjoyed life. She found pleasure in simple things. She loved to bowl, getting “mani-pedi”, and shopping at the “Soup Exchange” (aka the Navy Exchange). Kirstie had a love for music and dancing that could give the Angels pause. More importantly, Kirstie loved Our Lord and Bethel Baptist Church.
Kirstie was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church, under the pastorage of Dr. John W. Ringgold. Most will remember her by her favorite greeting, “Hey kid.” Kirstie faithfully attended Sunday School, morning worship, and enjoyed being an enthusiastic member of the Praise Team. After the 11:00 a.m. service, you would find her dutifully caring for her church as other parishioners ambled out the doors. She picked up the trash and put away the bibles and hymn books ineptly left by others. Many Sundays, you would hear her mother calling “C’mon Kirstie!” A diligent steward of the Lord and her Church, Kirstie’s only response was, “I’m not finished.”
Kirstie gave all that she could. She left her earthly journey on Friday, March 16, 2018. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her parents, William and Octavia Ellis of San Diego, CA; older brother, Steve Ellis of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico; younger sister, Ponselle L. Ellis of San Diego, CA; two nephews, Kameron Ellis and Khalil Rosette both of San Diego, CA and many aunts, uncles, family and friends.
