Freddie Lee Harrison Obituary

 

CHIEF GUNNER’S MATE FREDDIE LEE HARRISON was born on July 20, 1943 to the late Isaac Harrison, Sr. and Eliza Aaron Harrison in Opelousas, Louisiana. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mohorn Baptist Church in Plaisance, Louisiana. He attended Plaisance High School.

 He joined the US Navy in 1962 and retired August 1, 1992 at the rank of Chief Gunner’s Mate. He received a Bachelor of Public Administration in Criminal Justice Administration from National University. He received numerous awards of recognition and commendation throughout his military and civil service career.

Freddie Lee Harrison was united in holy matrimony to Clara Daniels on March 2, 1968 in Fresno, California. This union was blessed with one son Troy.

Freddie was a sports fanatic. He loved his Los Angeles Raiders, Dodgers and the San Antonio Spurs. He also enjoyed the horses and “The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports" Kentucky Derby.

Freddie departed this life on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Kaiser Foundation Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Harrison, Sr. and Eliza Aaron Harrison, three sisters: Doris Lee Harrison Redmon, Ethel Lee Harrison Stevens and Lucy Adelaide Harrison Burleigh, and two brothers: Isaac Harrison, Jr. and Paul Lee Harrison, mother-in-law: Octavia Daniels “Lady”, sister-in-law: Joyce Charles, brother-in-law: Alcide Daniels.

He leaves to cherish his memories: Wife ~ Clara Harrison; Son ~ Troy Harrison (Cathy) of Irvine, CA; Grandchildren ~ Isaac Harrison, Ava Harrison; Siblings ~ Betty Ann Harrison Ivory (Galveston, TX), Alex Harrison (Mary) of Houston, TX, James Johnson Jr (Houston, TX); Siblings-in-law ~ Tom Stevens (Galveston, TX), Judy Taylor (Dallas, TX), Barbara Collins (Opelousas, LA), Michael Taylor (San Diego, CA); Godchildren ~ Brittany Jefferson (Huntsville, TX) Brigitte Wilcher (Long Beach, CA); Christa Knight (Wichita, Kansas) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
