The Life of

[FRED ROBERT EWELL JR. ]  

Elder Fred Robert Ewell Jr. was born April 22, 1954 to Fred Robert Ewell, Sr. and Catherine Robertson-Ewell. He was the eldest of five boys. Elder Ewell graduated from Beaumont High School in St. Louis, Mo, where he participated in football and concert choir.

In 1972, Elder Ewell joined the United States Air Force. It was there where he pursued the electrical trade. In 1974, Elder Ewell was stationed at March Air Force Base, in Riverside, County, CA where he met Jacqueline McKee. Jacqueline rededicated her life to the Lord and Elder Ewell accepted the Lord initially to be with her. In 1975 they were married and attended Lily of the Valley Church of God in Christ in Perris, California, where James A. Sweeney was pastor.

In 1977, Elder Ewell and Jacqueline became members of Bibleway Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Curtis Spears. It was there where Elder Ewell accepted his call into the ministry and served in the men's department and the music department. Elder Ewell learned the guitar when he was younger, however, when the choir asked him if he could play the bass guitar, he learned to play by ear.

 In 1983, Elder Ewell, Jacqueline and their family relocated to San Diego to assist in starting Revival Time Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Elder Lonnie Lynch, where he became Assistant Pastor. As Assistant Pastor, Elder Ewell took on the roles of Sunday School Superintendent, musician in the music department, and led songs in the choir. He was a teacher and Gospel preacher who challenged others to grow in the Word of God.

In August of 1994, Elder Ewell and his family joined St. Stephen's Church of God in Christ, where Bishop George D. McKinney is the Pastor. There, Elder Ewell was involved in Pastoral Care and the Music Department. The classes he taught were, New Members Class, Tuesday night Bible Study,  and Young Warriors Discipleship Class. He later became an Associate Pastor in the Education Department at St. Stephen's. Some of Elder Ewell's favorite pastimes were hanging around family, making music, watching sports and science fiction shows.  Elder Ewell had a real passion for studying the Word of God.

Elder Fred Robert Ewell, Jr. made a real impact and it is evident in the lives of his family and those he touched through his preaching, teaching and ultimately how he lived his life. Elder Ewell, will never be forgotten.

Elder Ewell went to be with the Lord, October 4, 2018. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years Jacqueline Ewell and his five children, Fretrice and husband Terry, Drenius, Therkeel, Danesha and Tayon along with wife Tisha. His grandchildren are Tremayne Wheeler, Kamari Tate and Magnus Knox. His four brothers; Calvin, Stanley along with wife Rayna, Louis Anthony and Vaughn and their families and a host of family and friends.
