CLAUDELL LEE HOWARD was born January 12, 1942. He was an only child born to loving parents, Johnnie Lee Howard and Exie Johnson Howard in Minden, Louisiana.

In 1948, the Howard Family moved to San Diego, California, where Claudell spent his life in the close-knit community of Linda Vista, California. During his teen years, Claudell accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the spiritual guidance of the late Reverend Chaney Johnson. He received his formal education through the San Diego Unified School District, graduating from Kearny Mesa High School with the Class of 1960. He was an all-around athlete, excelling in football, basketball and track.

A few years later, Claudell united in marriage with Janie Mae Smith. Their union was blessed with a beautiful daughter, whom they named, April Lynette Howard.

During the early years, Claudell worked for the United States Post Office.  A few years later, he joined his father’s company, J. L. Howard Lathe & Plastering Company, where he remained throughout the life of the company.

Claudell who loved and enjoyed all sports, had a specific fondness for fishing and golfing. He seized every opportunity to tee off on the golf course. Claudell was very loving and caring. He would go out of his way to help others. He had a very special bond with his mother, whom he adored. His greatest moments in life were precious time spent with his daughter, April and granddaughters, Jamacia and Jamease.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, April Lynette Howard, his granddaughter, Jamacia Howard and his father, Johnnie Lee Howard,

On Monday evening, October 9, 2017, Claudell Lee Howard was called from earthly labor to eternal rest. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Exie Howard and his granddaughter, Jamease Howard Caccam and her husband Derrick Caccum; his great-grandson, Albert Burke Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends who will mourn his passing, yet celebrate his life.
