Charlie Wilson

CHARLES WILSON was born in Yuma, Arizona on June 6, 1941. He was the second of twelve children born to the late Reverend Helda and Lula Wilson. The family moved to San Diego, California in 1960. In his early childhood, he was affectionately known as “Chilly Willie”. He received his formal education in Yuma.

Charles was known for his running ability. He ran for the Special Olympics, where he traveled all over California to run. He won many first place medals.

Charles accepted Christ and was a baptized believer at an early age. He was a prayer warrior at his last church, Holy Deliverance under the leadership of Bishop Joseph Coney. He just prayed everywhere all the time. When he preached, he always said “I preach from the heart”, which was about “Love” and loving one another. He said “love was one of the greatest gifts; there is nothing without love”. He loved church and was very dedicated. On his last birthday, one of his sisters asked him where he wanted to go for his birthday. He said “Nowhere, I’m going to Church. I’m going to attend Bible Study.”

Charles was married to the late Julie Sykes Wilson in the 1970’s. His earthly journey ended Thursday, July 19, 2018.

He leaves to mourn his passing his siblings:: Ermel Gueston, Yula Wilson, Fannie Wilson  all of San Diego, Helda Wilson Jr. of Chico, CA; Nattie O’Neal (James) of San Diego; Sedell Branch (Arnold) of Temecula, CA, Priscilla Canady (Craig), Martha  Dixon (Dominic) and Kathy Benton all of San Diego and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Charles will be truly missed, but never forgotten!
