William E. Kemper

WILLIAM EDWARD KEMPER, at the age of eighty-one, entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Sharp Memorial Hospital, San Diego, California.

William was born on September 9, 1936 in Jackson, Tennessee. He was one of three children born to the union of Frances Kemper and Vernon Chancellor. He began his formal education in Jackson, Tennessee; where he attended elementary school. The family later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where William attended junior high and high school.

On October 15, 1955, William enlisted into the United States Navy. He received his Honorable Discharge on February 5, 1959 in San Diego, California, where he met his soulmate, Sylvia M. Crawford. They were united in marriage on September 12, 1959. Their union was beautifully blessed with a son, whom they named William Jr.

During the early 1960s, William enrolled at Memorial High School, where he completed his high school credits and received his degree. It was during that time that he began his employment with Convair, where he worked for three years as a Missile Mechanic. Afterwards, he began employment at Solar where he became a Turbine Test Mechanic. He retired in June of 1999 after thirty-six years of service  excellence.

Together, William and Sylvia established and successfully operated the Kemper Income Tax Service, serving many people throughout the San Diego community. During his life’s journey, he touched many lives and made numerous friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

William leaves to cherish his legacy and his memory, his devoted, loving wife of fifty-eight years, Sylvia M. Kemper; his  son, William E. Kemper Jr.; grandson, William G. Kemper and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and associates who will mourn his passing, yet celebrate his life.
