Eugene Strong

Eugene Strong was born November 9, 1962. He was the next to the youngest of eight children to Mattie Pearl and Ernest Junior Strong. Eugene was affectionately called “Gene” by family and friends.

Gene was born in San Diego, California and accepted the Lord at an early age and was a firm believer in Christ. He was an athlete in his youth and excelled in many sports with his favorites being basketball and football; which he loved playing at Gompers Park with the fellas. Gene was a loving person and enjoyed and appreciated the time he was able to spend with family and friends. To them, he always had a ready smile and a listening ear. In his later years, he moved away from home in San Diego to Hemit California and then to Arizona to spend time with his children and grandchildren. From there, Gene stayed in contact with friends in San Diego as well as Louisiana; and with that been said, we won’t forget Genes sense of humor with his Mom being his favorite target. Gene loved calling her and trying to disguise his voice; and we’ll just called that pranks gone bad, because you can’t fool “Mama”. And after a good laugh and checking on her well-being, he’d always end the conversation with okay then, “I’m gone.” And on his serious side, if you ever needed a listening ear, Gene would be the one to go to. His humbleness and encouragement will be greatly missed. The lord saw fit to call Eugene Strong to eternal life on August 10, 2017.

Eugene was preceded by and has reunited with the mother of his sons, Sherrelle Mays; his father, Ernest Junior Strong, and grandmother Pearl Hudson

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Mattie P. Lynch; step father, Norfleet Lynch; brothers: Ernest Jeery Strong, John Henry Strong and Phillip Craig (Jimmie Lee Strong); sisters: Rubynell Turner (Robert), Gladys Marie Strong, Joann Strong-Anderson and Ernestine Strong-Brown; sons: Terrell Eugene Strong, Eugene Strong Jr. and stepson, Donte Mays; daughters: Tylisha Strong-Asoro and Kenisha Strong (Victor); grandchildren: Lyric, Londynn, Lorynn, Alaya, Alya and Aleea; grandson, Victor Jr. and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and close friends.
