Our beloved Doris Louise Beard Reed was born on March 22, 1943 in Brownsville,

Tennessee to Gertie B. and Lonnie Beard. She received her formal education and graduated from high school in Brownsville. Afterwards, she enrolled at Tennessee State University, where she earned her A.A. Degree in Home Economics.

Doris later met and united in marriage with Lawrence Reed of the United States Air Force. They traveled the world together. Their union was blessed with a beautiful daughter. They later settled in California, where Doris was employed at the 32Nd Street Naval Base. After retiring from the naval base, Doris became a manicurist.  However, she found her true calling in becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant. She was a very compassionate caregiver, who nurtured her patients with tender loving care. She was indeed, a credit to her profession.

Doris was a member of the 38th Street Church of Christ, under the leadership of Minister James L. Cothron II. She faithfully attended her bible study classes and participated in the Women’s ministries. She dearly loved her church family and she truly loved the Lord.
