REMEMBERING "NICK"

CARDELL NICHOLAS HILL II, affectionately known as “Nick” by his family and friends, was born on November 27, 1981 to Cardell Hill and Terry Anderson in San Diego, CA. He received his formal education through the San Diego Unified School District. After graduating from high school, he enlisted into the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Germany. After completing his tour duty, Nick returned to San Diego, upon receiving his Honorable Discharge.

Nick truly lived in the moment, one day at a time with no regrets, doing what he wanted and when he wanted. Nick was an open book; he had no secrets and nothing to hide. We all knew what he was thinking behind that mischievous smirk because he usually wasn’t shy about telling us. Yet, he was the most dependable, caring, loving person you will ever meet, whom you could always count on to be there. It didn’t matter if it was at a moment’s notice; he would drop whatever he was doing to help family and friends. He was a very good listener and found pleasure in giving sound advice and assistance to others in a time of need. He had a heart of gold.

As a child, he was a curious little thing, always getting into something he shouldn’t have. As an adult, Nick channeled his curiosities into his favorite hobbies. Because of his love for  Volkswagens he decided to take auto mechanic classes at the Educational Culture Complex to learn the trade of repairing and painting his cars. He enjoyed attending and meeting people at car shows.  Motorcycles were another one of his passions. He enjoyed riding and meeting up with friends for the weekly “Taco Tuesday Ride”.

Nick loved spending time with “Grandma”; and whenever she wasn’t her usual energetic self, he would jokingly say, “Grandma are you being old today?,” which always gave her a smile. Nick had his grandmother’s heart and she certainly had his. His life forever changed in 2007 when his niece, Mia was born. She was a special joy in his life. He was proud to be her uncle.

An amazing quality Nick had was always keeping in touch with friends and family. He never let too much time pass without checking to see how you were doing or just to say hi. He was a caring and loving son and grandson, a protective and responsible older brother, fun loving cousin and nephew and a loyal friend, whose laughter and infectious smile will truly and deeply be missed by all who knew and loved him.

On Tuesday, November 28, 2017, Cardell Nicholas Hill II was called home to eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Cedell Hill. He leaves to cherish his lasting memories, his father, Cardell Hill Sr. (Vina); mother, Terry Anderson; brother, Joshua Hill; niece, Mia Hill; his “Grandma”, Jimmye Hill; uncles, Walter Sanders (Betty), Cornelius Hill (Diane) and “Uncle Kenny”; aunts, Michele Harden (Darren) and Cathy Lynn Ford (Lawrence); cousins: Cornelius Hill Jr., Donsha Harden, Danielle Harden, Jasmine Harden, Hannah Jimenez, Adam Ford, Charity Ford and a host of relatives.
